Copywriter. Copy editor. Public relations professional. Project manager. Collaborator. Problem fixer. Never a graphic designer.

I’m Kristin Eckart

No one needs to tell me to “use my words.”

I’ve been using them my whole life, first as an amateur writer who was first published in a literary magazine at my elementary school. And later, of course, in a series of writing jobs, including newspaper reporter, agency copywriter, government communication specialist, and content marketing manager.

I love words the way that some people love music. Or running. Or ice cream. Words allow me to express myself and unwind and indulge.

In that spirit, here are some words that describe me and my work.

Experienced, smart, curious, focused, cool-headed

Copywriter, editor, project manager, PR specialist, ex-journalist

Verbs (and adverbs)

Works quickly, listens carefully, meets deadlines, delivers quality

Also, some of my favorite words are
giggle, thunk and bunkum.

Other things that might interest you, besides my portfolio

I’ve lived in Germany, Iowa, Texas, Tennessee, Ohio and North Carolina.
I’m a proud graduate of the University of North Carolina’s journalism school.
I worked at three daily newspapers and got out when the getting was good (right before the internet was a big deal). My favorite beat was public education.
As a government communications specialist, I made it my personal mission to never, ever use jargon.
My agency work includes experience writing for Tyson Foods, Novant Health Volvo, Mack, BB&T (now Truist) and lots of small companies and nonprofits. I’ve done editing for Food Lion, Lowe’s Home Improvement and Wells Fargo. I’ve also edited three books.
